TP, "The worst traffic anywhere near Austin is the stretch between Hector Ruiz' house in Lakeway and the current AMD site. He is determined to have an office near his home. He feels AMD owes it to him."

Listen up man, could you stop disseminate outrageous misinformation? It is starting to step on nerves. If you have no clue, just stop it.

Lakeway is 20 miles west from Austin, and Hector does not live there, he lives on Barton Creek Boulevard, close to L360. Loop 360 is not the worst traffic place, quite contrary, the worst is I35 and Mopac. However, the last stretch of HWY 71 East (where AMD is located) is experiencing more and more increased traffic due to becoming the main access road to Austin International Airport, even if this section was vastly improved over last few years, including overpass on intersection with Interstate 35. This most congested section is about a 2-mile path from that intersection.

If you know the Austin geography (but it looks that you don't), no engineers live in East Austin, all of them live in NW, W, or SW areas, all on the _other_ side of the congested HWY-71 section. Therefore, moving the engineering quarters to the West side of I35 would vastly reduce commute time for most of them.

"executives quit going to the plants and summoned managers"

In the age of electronic mail, teleconferencing, and wireless phones, executives do not need to go to plants, especially if it is a clean sealed environment of a semiconductor fab. It is much more productive for an executive to have a good window view rather than have international air traffic going over the roof of their offices.

18:10 HPQ Hewlett-Packard Conference Call Summary (31.67 -0.82)

-Update- 2/15/06

Looking forward bear in mind historically operating expenses increase ~4-5% in currency from Q1 to Q2... CapEx guidance remains unchanged; total CapEx of $2.8 bln, net CapEx $2.2 bln for Y06... co notes they have hedged there $4.0 bln share repurchase... Not giving Q3 and Q4 guidance today; reminds analysts that Q3 is always tough due to seasonality in Europe; 'As you build your models for the rest of the year, keep in mind this seasonality adversely impacts both revenue and earnings in Q3'... co states that restructuring is still on track... co says had strong growth with regard to EVA and XP growth rates comparative to the rest of the market; says storage growth on non-tape products was very strong in quarter... co will make investments particularly in their demand creation model to put more effort into creating demand particularly in the commercial printing space and in the enterprise... co does not state anything interesting regarding linearity in the quarter... co has been working hard on cost and expect to continue this going forward... pricing environment in enterprise segment: pricing environment in enterprise segment: co says that it is always competitive; did not see anything out of the ordinary in Q1; expect it to continue to be aggressive ... notes DRAM prices were up in Q1; processor supply has finally normalized; prices on panels have dropped post holiday... win rate versus DELL by channel partners was the best in years; co is pleased with their success and will put more energy behind their partners; will put more energy into consumer.
