I do remember how sophisticated smoking seemed to me when I went off to college. I felt like such a little nerd because I didn't drink or smoke. The first night in the dorm, I sat around listening to the wild stories from these girls, watching them French inhale and thought, oh, why am I not cool!
So I took up smoking. But it didn't work. I never felt cooler. In fact, I once set fire to my hair in a car, trying to flick the butt out the window.
