An Aside:
I was just asking Dan about the non-smoking law for the airlines (chicken or egg question), and he said that the airlines had taken that measure on their own before the government passed the law. They had responded to the growing number of complaints received from customers. He sat in on a number of board meetings on the subject on how much business would or wouldn't suffer if they didn't allow smoking. They left international alone for a long time because of the availability of foreign lines and the length of the flights.

I think I already said I accept more government regulation when health interests are at stake, and it's public, versus private, regulation.

I feel the same way about the regulation of terrorism. I am fine with regulation of the public spaces, but more uncomfortable with regulation of private areas of life, where one has an expectation of privacy.
