So the real question is whether you think that tobacco has some reason for tolerance, or if it is a "knee-jerk" conservatism in which anything which was okay in your past should be okay and anything else should not be permitted?

I don't see any particular reason to tolerate tobacco as opposed to other smokable substances and I'm certainly not moved by tradition. The latter is risible.

I just think that people have different tastes and there's no good reason for government to deny businesses the opportunity to cater to those tastes or the rights of the people to pursue them. I firmly support the right of individuals to do unhealthy things as long as they don't hurt unwilling parties. I don't like intrusive government.
