There is a place where 'libertarians' and progressives can meet. Mostly it's booting out intrusive government at all levels and remembering what true freedom looks like, with all of its attendant risks.

The reality is that the US isn't really a democracy. What do we get to vote on? We vote on a small stable of 'representatives' chosen, in reality, by BigCorporations. Those 'representatives' know who keeps them in office and, therefore, they know whom they truly represent.

That is not democracy.

We have to go to 100% publicly funded campaigns, vote by mail and strict 20 year moratoriums on jobs and stuff for government employees and office holders.

That is closer to democracy and would, therefore, make the US closer to being the kind of country we could be proud of instead of the bloated, violent, untrustworthy mess it is today.
