At least the markets closed in positive territory today.

I heard the laid off Ford workers will receive 90% of their pay and all of their benefits until the next contract is negotiated between the company and the union. It's an incredible deal, but it is a deal the company cannot afford.

European companies provide health care and I think Japan does as well so those companies have an edge on their American counterparts.

Like you, I'm afraid tax payers will have to pick up the tab for pensions but I'm not sure if the tax payer can afford to pay for all these pensions. What is unfair in American companies is the huge gap between the wages that the ordinary worker earns and the wages and perks that the company executives make.
