DJ IIC Launches iBoxx Inflation-Linked Bond Indexes

.

LONDON (Dow Jones)--International Index Company has launched a new set of indexes tracking the performance of the inflation-linked bond market, the index provider said Tuesday.

The iBoxx Inflation-Linked Index Family will contain bonds issued by both sovereign and quasi-sovereign entities. There will be a global index; regional indexes for North America, Asia and Europe; currency indexes for Canadian dollars, euros, sterling, yen, Swedish kronor and U.S. dollars; country indexes for Canada, France, Greece, Italy, Japan, Sweden, the U.K. and the U.S.; indexes with maturity bands of 1-5 years, 5-10 years and more than 10 years; and finally base inflation indexes.

"The inflation-linked bond market is growing steadily, both in traded volumes and importance for investors, and the new indices address their needs," commented David Mark, chief executive officer of IIC.

Several investment banks will contribute prices to the indexes, including BNP Paribas, Deutsche Bank, HSBC, Morgan Stanley and UBS. These prices will be screened to remove anomalous data before being used to calculate index levels.

The indexes will be calculated and published thrice daily - at 1100 London time for European midday and Asian close; at 1600 London time for European close and U.S. midday; and at 2100 London time for all end of day levels. Index history has been calculated starting at the end of 2000.
