It is extremely unlikely that there would even be an impeachment vote, or that if there is even a third of Democrats would vote for it. Unless the administration goes even further than it has, impeachment is just a pipe dream of the left end of the Democratic party. It has no support from Republicans at all (unlike the possible impeachment of Nixon), or from Democratic moderates. Tim

Is there usually an investigation before impeachment, or does an investigation follow the the charge? This seems premature to me. Impeachment should be reserved for the most extreme crimes and much as I dislike what Bush might have done (since it's all very ambiguous right now), I would hate to see the process initiated prematurely or for political reasons as it was against CLinton. It diminishes the gravity of the process if we act without serious consideration for the implications to the country. I do hope something happens to get these security issues in front of the people and the congress and the courts. We live in such a rapidly changing environment that it is hard to keep on top of the demands for the necessary legal change and oversight. Are we really so sure of the facts that we would put the country through that at this point? Or has the impeachment process already lost some of its meaning? Or am I not understanding the process and bringing the charge is necessary to get the facts?
