And they have been wrong for nearly 5 years. When do they understand that this tactic is not working. Do you expect me to sit around with my finger in my nose while you all get up to speed?

Really? There have been no terrorist attacks in the US since 9/11. /I>

And before that, there hadn't been a foreign terrorist attack since 1993. That gap was 8 years. Its been less than 5 years since 9/11. In fact, we had more homegrown terrorist attacks during that 8 year period than foreign.

Osama and Zwahiri are in hiding and on the run.

This is not an accomplishment.......at least not to me.

Israel has withdrawn from Gaza and there are rumors of a bill being proposed to compensate folks in the West Bank for relocating to Israel proper.

I will give Bush that; however, I suspect the real reason that Sharon did an about face was because he knew he was going to die shortly.

Aghanistan is now Democratic and is on the road to recovery.

The patient is still very much on life support and the insurgency in that country is increasing.

Libya came clean and has decided to rejoin the international community.

Yes, I will give Bush that one although I suspect years of embargo have taken their toll on Libya.

Syria is under serious pressure for its role in the Harriri murder.

Bush had little to do with it............I think its more a factor of Bashad's weakness.

Lebanon is on its way to Democracy and has finally shed its Syrian shackles.

Read the fine print.........Lebanon may [and I use that word hesitantly]have gotten ridden of Syria's ties. Democracy? Not likely.

The Pakistani nuke network was uncovered and dismantled.

Its been dismantled.

Who told you that?

"Nuclear cooperation: During the past couple of years, the revelations concerning the transfer of nuclear technology to Iran by the Pakistani network led by Abdul Qadeer Khan have ignited heated debates and discussions about the nature of nuclear cooperation between the two countries. Iran is concerned about the reports of Pakistan's nuclear cooperation with Saudi Arabia.

Iranian concern is fueled by, among other things, unconfirmed reports of a secret Saudi-Pakistani agreement, harking back to a high-level visit to Pakistan by a Saudi prince in 2003 after a Saudi defense official's visit to Pakistan's nuclear facilities, prompting serious speculations in Tehran that the Pakistani nuclear network headed by Khan might have traded far more sensitive nuclear technology and know-how to the Saudis than it did to Iran. After all, Khan has visited Saudi Arabia on a number of occasions, albeit for the benign purpose of attending conferences, and the Sunni connections between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia run pretty deep.

Saudi officials have denied rumors of an oil-for-nukes pact between Riyadh and Islamabad, but Iranian policymakers are put on guard by such rumors, deemed credible in the light of Pakistan's history, its close ties to Saudi Arabia, and its cash dependency on the oil-rich Saudis. Without doubt, a potential motivating factor, other than Israel, for a Saudi nuclear-weapons program is the alleged existence of such a program in Iran, which in turn may have been influenced by the threats of Saudi nuclearization.

Iran is pleased by the recent statements by Musharraf that Pakistan's nuclear assets are under strict custodial controls and that any clandestine proliferation network has been dismantled."

Iraq just held its first constitutional election and is well on its way to Democracy and handling the terrorists among themselves.

Huh? Do you not read the news?

These are all watershed events in the Middle East Muslim world. You don't see them for what they are, but I do. They are pieces to a puzzle and when that puzzle starts coming together 10-20 years from now, everyone will see how the true catalyst was 9/11 and America's reaction to it. You may not like Bush's Democracy by force methods, but they ARE working, not because Bush planned well, but because the Muslims in that region were hungre for Democracy and they'll sieze whatever opportunity is given them. So you see the glass half empty, because you just don't want to believe that anything good can come from the actions of Bush. I see the glass as half full, because even though I think Bush is inneffective, I'm not blinded by a hatred for him or Republicans. Things are getting better in the Middle East and 10-20 years from now, we'll all be happy that we DID something instead of sitting on our thumbs while radical Muslims had their way with the world.

I applaud your optimism.........however, I think it might be clouding your vision.
