I think some interaction is essential, yes, but good video lessons can become a bigger part of the equation. I think here on campus you can listen to the campus station over the Internet uncompressed -- 1.5 megabit or so. The bandwidth will continue to rise to make more possible.

I think in a technical or science field, it's easier to see how video streams can become a bigger part of the equation. And they can be done live, too, so that you can submit questions. But if it's completely canned, you cannot ask questions.

And with some disciplines more than others, a LOT of class interaction is essential, like training for teaching for example. And that makes sense since the entire career is built in human interaction. A person who got a video degree who stepped into a 1st grade classroom would be dead within hours <g>
