You can get more than even Alices’s Restaurant offers, and maybe more than you bargained for, when you go to Texas.

”Mondragon lured her and another woman here from Honduras with promises of legitimate jobs.
Once they were in Houston, however, they were pushed to work as prostitutes and forced into servitude to pay off their smuggling fees, federal authorities say…Mondragon kept the women in his service through threats against them and their families, telling one woman that he knew where her children lived in El Salvador and threatening to burn another's house, de Baca said. .”

I doubt the state of Texas has any designs on excluding gays from restaurants.

I think they would if they could.
Not because there's anything wrong with it.
Not because they personally have a problem with it.
Not becasue they could even pick a gay out of a crowd,

but because the minority of which I write will pester, and protest, and write nasty letters to the paper and the business owners will ban gays from the restaurant because they have a business to run and they are tired of the constant interruption. Of course there will be some restaurant owners that won't. Eventually their restaurants will be known as gay hangouts and people who just want a meal without making a statement will eat elsewhere, where gays are banned if they are noticed.

Don't you see that this is exactly the kind of process that leads the supposedly educated legislators of Texas to ban the gay marriages when they don't care, and couldn't tell if two people on the street were married or not.
