I think it is more of a rural-urban split. The more leftist parties support came from the larger cities.

I think that as well, but my family in Alberta would point out that Calgary and Edmonton are not rural :-)

However I also see a 'welfare' vote for incumbancy (Liberal since they were in power). This is with the Maritimes (where my family is from) and the far north.
