re: Our country continues to get richer.

No, it doesn't. The country is constantly increasing it's debt to most of the rest of the world. We're mortgaging our assets to pay for today's prosperity. Open your eyes, if you are going further in debt you are NOT getting richer. No nuance, conservative common sense.

re: All of these illegal aliens stealing jobs yet we're below 5% unemployment... The only thing that makes the US poorer is the feel good socialists who are too damn lazy to work in a capitalist society.

In one breath "low unemployment" in the second breath "too damn lazy to work". Americans are working their asses off, and getting deeper in debt. Have a little respect for your fellow Americans.

One of the things that made this country is our agricultural surplus; we were blessed to have the "bread basket", the finest farmland in the world in the midwest. Last year, for the first time in our history, we became a net importer of agricultural products. Food is now debt.

But the far greater problem is oil. 5% of the worlds population, 25% of the world consumption, 1/3 of the huge US trade deficit.

It has nothing to do with Dem/Rep or Conservative/Liberal, it has to do with common sense. Dollars out/dollars in, assets vs. debt. It's real, it's right now, and it's more important than politics... it's the future prosperity of our country.

John

RE: "I don't see Americans moving to China."

An extremely top-notch executive in comms has moved to China for an excellent position.

He said China has excellent infrastructure for Comm companies to progress quickly.

RE: "you can vote for someone to give it to you? Gimme gimme gimme....that's is bankrupting us"

Do all democracies eventually bankrupt themselves by voting themselves money?

Also, what happens when a country goes bankrupt? Don't they typically start seizing assets from people?

RE: "Costs of free healthcare"

There was an article only a few days ago that said the cost of medicare (or was it medicaid?) exceeds education!

Can't find the article thru a google search, but if you can find it, it is really worth a read. Is this country going downhill?

Regards,
Amy J

Oil is still bought and sold using US dollars. That's only one reason I know I live in the greatest nation on earth.

Then you know very little. Before the dollar, the pound was the world's currency and before that, the franc. Easy come, easy go.
