There is just no comparison between that and restaurants discriminating. You can't compare the two because they are fundamentally different.

Nonetheless, since you did connect them, I'll offer this: moving away from one's state is a heavy burden of protest to expect from a citizen. Opting to eat at pancake house A rather than pancake house B because B discriminates is an easy and natural thing to do. Plenty of people would do it.

We aren't talking about laws defining marriage to be between a man and a woman but rather places of business excluding people because of their skin color. Two very different acts.

The public perception of the two things is very different. Probably 60+% support the "anti-gay marriage laws". Maybe 1% support excluding people from "public accommodations" based on their skin color. Probably even less than 1%. I think there would be similarly low rates for trying to exclude homosexuals from restaurants and such.
