That is an extremely uninformed view of the salaries, the teaching loads, and the political climate within universities in the United States. For one thing, there is a huge range, from the top Ivy League Universities down to the lowliest community colleges--and even within any particular level there are so many exceptions that generalities such as yours are without meaning. What do you do for a living? I can tell you that I would not pontificate about what goes on within the automobile industry, the local police force, the New York transportation system, or anything else that I was completely ignorant about.
