DJ DAVOS: Dell Chairman Doesn't Rule Out Using AMD Chips -2-

Asked about Dell's fourth-quarter results, due Feb. 16, Dell said that the 9%-11% revenue growth forecast "is still our target." He declined to give details about first-quarter guidance, adding that the company will provide it with the fourth-quarter results.

Dell said the company is addressing problems in customer service by hiring more people and "investing heavily to make sure we keep on delivering a good service." Some analysts have said customer service is a key challenge for the company.

As a consequence of this focus on improving efficiency Dell will hire more people in Europe, Asia, North America and South America, he said.

And he added that he sees a "great opportunity" in South Africa as democracy advances there.
