If you define fairness as whatever the market decides That is not what I wrote. To place it in a pithy remark : fairness is what individuals decide for themselves in the presence of a market. If you're a plumber, you can work for a salary or go into business for yourself. I don't think self-employment is a realistic option for most people, otherwise there would be few working for others. It reminds me of the lyrics: So you want to be a Rock & Roll star? well listen now to what I say! Just get an electric guitar and thentake some time and learn how to play. Yep! it's just that easy. Most knowledge work can be done either under salary or by contract. What's the difference to your heirs? Do they get the contract when you pass?
