The only point I was trying to make is the big influence of AMAT, INTC, and TXN on the value of SMH. Since all three stocks were down substantially compared to the value of SMH, several other stocks(there are 17 other stocks in the SMH HLDRS) must be doing better than than SMH to "pull the average" up. Your chart reference shows 2 of these stocks that are indeed doing better to partially offset the effect of AMAT, INTC, and TXN, however, neither of these 2 stocks are a part of the 20 stocks that make up the SMH HLDRS.

The 2 stocks most up within SMH HLDRS today in percentage value were AMD(4.4%) and LSI(3.6) percent. If we add those to the chart you referenced we have.
