They are far more different than they are alike.

The actual differences are irrelevant however.

The megaphone effect comes from some groups dominating the airwaves with a point of view. Often the dissenting view is rejected by networks, so it's even more than just a matter of money.


The problem with "megaphone in the middle of the night" is that it is noise pollution. One or two or one hundred ideas getting more coverage than thousands or millions of other ideas in no way resembles noise pollution.
