In other words we do use "the principle that in magnets opposites attract and the same push away" both in motors and in generators, but because the efficiency is always less than 100% instead of greater than 100% you need to put more energy in to either the motor or the generator than you can get out.

I'm no physicist, but isn't that a demonstration of the First Law of Thermodynamics?

My family first came to florida in a STANLEY STEAMER. It could burn wood and could use water wherever found. My Great Aunt used to tell me stories about her husband pulling over to the side of the road to get water out of a stream and once stepped on an Alligator. jdn
