That should sort out the poll questions... ask those who claim to be OK with being tapped, whether they'd like Hillary Clinton to have the right to monitor all their calls.
Or, say, some (Dem?) Senator who's really, really hot against tax evasion, and sees it as unpatriotic and illegal not to pay all the tax you should... <g>

Seriously, it's a key point; even if you're happy with the current leadership having powers way beyond constitutional, are you happy to grant those to all his successors for as long as they choose to call it 'wartime' (as in "war on terror")?

Norquist's position on the warrantless spying is particularly surprising because of his present vulnerabilities. Rumours tie him to Abramoff in so many different ways you would expect him to lay very low right now. And definitely not to criticize the Bush folk since he may well depend on them, heavily, down the road.
