Hold them accountable. I said a long time ago that Rumsfeld should have been fired or even tried for Abu Graib and the conditions that were so pervasive as to have lead to the general breakdown of military discipline and human decency. I fully believe that it was widely believed by everyone in the command chain that neither Cheney nor Rumsfeld would have held anyone accountable for gross acts of torture or inhumane treatment. Thus, Abu Graib and thousands of other acts we don't even know about.

But its not happening. They are not being held accountable, and therein lies the problem. With each passing month that no one seriously challenges them, they grow more arrogant. The American people have boxed us into a corner. In the last election, they left the Dems castrated and given Bush free rein. For a short while, it looked like that was changing but then it stalled and the Bushies have taken advantage of that stall. This country is in big trouble.......our right to a democracy is ours to lose.
