The teacher would have lost his job...
He might not have been able to find employment in the teaching field ever again.

What bothers me so much is the ability of a student to defame a teacher with accusations that are nothing but malicious lies.


Actually, I was assuming he'd face criminal charges (he would in this country). So maybe make the penalty for lying in this way, attempting to get an official take an unjust punishment, that you get the punishment they would have had: denouncement as a sex offender and 3-5 years behind bars...

But agreed, the real problem is that children can and will lie in this fashion, and the default assumption is that they are truthful... I suppose it's an over-reaction to all the paedophile scandals.

No, make O'Reilly pay. He is the one that compounded the crime of false testimony. This imo is a more egregious crime than what the teacher was accused.

I think O'Reilly should get jail time.
