What he was doing was expressing outrage at the situation.

The outrage machine is dangerous, Tim. It may not be criminal but it needs to be stopped.

If our criminal justice system ever "progresses" to the point where what O'Reilly did results in criminal punishment it will be a sad day. We will have taken a step towards totalitarianism.

You mean if the teacher lost his job and could never teach again as a result of what O'Reilly did, O'Reilly's actions should not be punished?

That is the reality of the criminal justice system now. People like O'Reilly inflicting harm to others go unpunished.

And, you are saying that if the criminal justice system ever became so just that when people who cause unnecessary harm to others are punished, we would be living in a totalitarian society?

If the day comes, when we could have true justice, we would be living in a totalitarian society?

hmmmm interesting opinion.
