OTTAWA (CP) - Prime minister-designate Stephen Harper is back at work on his transition files after an evening trip to hospital for a chest inflammation.

Aides are downplaying the seriousness of the incident, saying Harper went to the hospital briefly as a precaution and was given antibiotics. It was not an asthma attack, said spokeswoman Carolyn Stewart Olsen.

Harper suffered from severe asthma as a child, but Stewart Olsen said Friday he hasn't had an attack in years and doesn't carry a medication inhaler.

During the Tory leadership race two years ago, Harper was taken to a hospital in British Columbia after feeling some distress, but wasn't admitted. He was suffering from pneumonia at the time, said Stewart Olsen.

The latest incident was blamed on fatigue. Harper has just finished a long and tiring election campaign.
