I have thought for a while that Schmidt's insistence on making a lot of money for GOOG was really a veiled attempt at taking down microsoft, which is his #1 goal. GOOG is very agressive in their attempt to bring in as much money as they possibly can. Of course every company wants to do this but GOOG is a bit relentless. I think Schmidt sees it as imperative to go up against msft. I can't tell you why I think this because I don't remember but things I have read have made me feel that way.
