You're still upset over a secondary offering that netted them ~ $566B for ~3.5% more shares? That was a great move.

Even at $566M it was a great move. Sometime last year I posted here that I hoped AMD would net $1B to $1.5B from stock while they had the chance, unlike the disaster of pricing at $100/sh at the peak, an not getting any. AMD's debt situation is looking much nicer to me. If they do announce the next Fab and start working on it, that money will will certainly be nice.

Doug, Re: You're still upset over a secondary offering that netted them ~ $566B for ~3.5% more shares? That was a great move.>

Well, since you put it that way, *YES*, sort of.

We all expected an offering. Bs would have been nice, Ms OK.

Actually, I was thinking, when it was announced, $500M?, Chump change, why bother. Tad's post enlightened me. I'm abysmally dumb sometimes. Maybe irrationally *FOCUSED* is more correct.

This is an industry that eats money and pays back much to few.

When you're doing well you finance internally. When you're doing OK you sell stock. When you're doing poorly you sell bonds tied to stock.

You may think it's anal, but I wish they'd stated "We are selling shares which will dilute company ownership of current shareholders. First offers will be made to our current company owners. Then shares will be made available to the public."

This is a particular gripe of mine, not only WRT AMD, but of companies in general. They seem to think they can get a better *DEAL* out of ML *AMD, SELL* -- than out of their shareholders.

*DUMB* IMO.
