Jochen and LTBH, success! At least I understand the problem now: I checked my Linksys router and it STILL showed the old Comcast DNS addresses [instead of the 2 you supplied and which I had entered in the pc] I bypassed the router [cable goes from modem directly to pc] Now the story.news.yahoo.com stories come up [because I'm using a public router] Conclusion: Comcast DNServers block [or are ignorant of] Yahoo news site. Now I need to find out if the router can somehow accept new DNServer numbers. Didn't see any way to do that at first glance.
