"But I'm wondering if their organization just might be pacified through the demands of government."

If the past is any guide, they likely will. You have to realize that Hamas already has been elected in many towns. And they are a lot more moderate when they actually have to do things like work together with the Israelis to get various projects done.

Then again the Irish were not radical Muslims...

It's what I've been saying all along... so many moving parts in the ME that making predictions is a fools errand. But on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being a great thing my WAG is a 2.

I'm not. Hamas is a terrorist organization. But I'm wondering if their organization just might be pacified through the demands of government. I'll admit that is wildly optimistic, but there is precedent in Ireland.

Do you know that Hamas started out in the 1960s as a charitable organization devoted exclusively to helping the Palestinians in the camps? And was very effective. Only in the late 1990s did it morph a fighting unit branch because of the continuing Israeli oppression experienced by the Palestinians.

And not they have brought the PLO near its end.
