Peter, I believe that changes are taking place as we speak. Many of the young people of all tribes are getting college degrees, and becoming doctors, lawyers, and business type people. They will guide the tribe to a better life if they are given the opportunity. The older generation, which was important to retain their customs, and history, are dying out, and the younger, more intelligent generation is facing the nation as it is, and not just how they would like it to be.

The white Europeans that first made contact with the Indians, were very misguided, and did not look on the Indians as people, instead of heathen savages. They misunderstood the words Indians used, and chalked that up to ignorance, and paganism. The Indians called the Creator, the Great Spirit, and the whites were too stupid to understand that it was just another word for God. The whites were also a greedy bunch that felt they could steal the land because of some kind of birth rite, when the Indians had been here from 20 to 10 thousand years.

The Indians do not ask for anything like the reparations, which are a stupid attempt to get more welfare, and all they want is a level playing field. When I think of the level playing field, I think of Jim Thorpe, and how he made it to the olympics and ran circles around the whites.
