Would be interested to know if anyone has knowledge of the area around Southern Pines/Pinehurst, NC.

Have always wanted to check that out but haven't had the opportunity, yet. All I know is that the area is big for golfers, but how about long-term development prospects and quality of life.

(Patron might have created a monster by starting this thread, as more boomers look for places to relocate and settle and everyone looks for places to put investment money. It's a good place to start sharing info on various locations for investment and overall living conditions. <<gg>>)

Tradelite,

You bring up an interesting point: what makes a collegetown a great place to live and invest? I would think that graduates would have to want to stay and live there, and there would need to be more than just a university anchoring the town. Sound like Athens doesn't have that. Do UGA alumni like to stick around for more than a year?

We have discussed quite a few collegetowns that do have 'it', starting with Boulder.
