Republicans the problem, not the solution

It’s hard to define the line between our government’s incompetence and corruption when we’re up to our noses in sewage.

For the last hundred years Republicans have been saying that government is the problem, not the solution and now finally they have proved their point.

Republican ideology and this particular government is definitely the problem, not the solution.

Democrat corruption?

Should Reid Resign?
By Mark Noonan at 09:39 AM
The Conservative Voice brings to our attention this very interesting bit:

by Jim Kouri - Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean said on Fox News Sunday that Democrats who took money from Indian tribes represented by lobbyist Jack Abramoff and who did something on behalf of those tribes have "a big problem." Dean made the statement probably before reading the Sunday edition of the Washington Post, which reports that Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid has done exactly that. During the interview by Fox News Sunday's Chris Wallace, Dean continued his claim that Democrats who received money from Abramoff's Indian clients did no favors for those Indian tribes, according to NewsMax.
"Nobody got anything out of the Democrats from Jack Abramoff," the top Democrat insisted. "No Democrat delivered anything and there's no accusation and no investigation that any Democrat ever delivered anything to Jack Abramoff. And that's not true of the Republicans."

But Wallace wasn't buying it. He continued his questioning of Dean: "So if we find that there were some Democrats who wrote letters on behalf of some of the Indian tribes that Abramoff represented, then what do you say, sir?"Dean's response: "That's a big problem. And those Democrats are in trouble. And they should be in trouble."

I don't know about today's Washington Post, but the Washington Post from November 18, 2005 had this to say:

Much of Abramoff's effort against the Jena tribe involved getting members of Congress to weigh in. At least 33 lawmakers who wrote letters to Norton opposing the Jena casino received more than $830,000 in Abramoff-related donations from 2001 to 2004, according to an Associated Press tally. Many of the lawmakers sent letters within days of receiving contributions from tribes represented by Abramoff or using the lobbyist's restaurant for fundraising, the AP found in its review of campaign records, IRS records and congressional correspondence...

...Senate Democratic Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) sent a letter to Norton on March 5, 2002, also signed by Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev). The next day, the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana issued a $5,000 check to Reid's tax-exempt political group, the Searchlight Leadership Fund. A second Abramoff tribe also sent $5,000 to Reid's group. Reid ultimately received more than $66,000 in Abramoff-related donations from 2001 to 2004. (emphasis added)

As our Democrats would have it, even the appearance of impropriety is very bad and you can't get a much worse appearance than getting five grand from somone the day after you do them a favor. It seems that Harry Reid is hip deep in Abramoff money, as has been detailed over at No Agenda. Reid wanted every Republican even remotely associated with Abramoff to pay a high price - he was quite adamant about the need for investigations, prosecutions and resignations...perhaps Reid should resign now that we know how closely he worked with the criminal Abramoff?

People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones...
