And people are safer now, so most people probably DO need nannies. Health wise, most people would probably benefit from a nanny full time- to watch what they ate, make them exercise, keep their use of cigarettes, alcohol and other drugs down, force them to raise their children properly- etc. But getting in to the home is a little too invasive for most of us, and getting in to the body even more so- so we draw some lines, and we say in this public sphere we're going to protect you numbskulls a bit more than we protect you at home, and as far as what you eat, and how much you exercise, and how much you drink, and how much you smoke in your own home- go for it and kill yourselves- and the people say "We ill" and they do. Nice balance, eh?
