Then other countries will have to decide whether or not our markets and our supposed financial stability are worth the risk of the US going straight into the fiscal toilet.

At that point in time, we will no longer be a 'sovereign' country but will be yanked around by other countries...and not in any kind of a nice way.

While GM and Ford fire scads of employees and lament their idiotic decisions about tank-like cars, China will be introducing cars...into the US of A.

Yep, I do think GM and Ford require more competition on home turf. Meanwhile, the rest of the world is being subsidized by the US Taxpayer's largesse...overpayment for prescription drugs AND payment for the R&D of same.

Republicans hate their own country and are demolishing it piece by piece and letting everyone else cart it off.

I wonder at what point we will not be able to extricate ourselves from Iraq. Will there be a point where the region is so shaky that we really can't leave?
