Re: "Senator Lieberman has let me down. I thought he MIGHT be strong willed enough to buck the special interests...."

What planet were YOU raised on, JD?

In the early and mid-nineties, Lieberman (& Dodd, and Breaux) did MORE to spike accounting reform them practically ANYONE ELSE in Congress... practically single-handedly laying the groundwork for the 'Enron and Global Crossing - type' financial frauds and asset bubble in the tech sector.

OF COURSE the companies were going to avail themselves of FREE MONEY from the government (courtesy of the fraudulent accounting and tax code that allowed them to take TAX WRITE-OFFS for the full expense of stock option grants... while also allowing them to hide those expenses from investors when they reported 'earnings').

Lieberman sided with the special interests (financial services firms in his backyard) THEN against the public good... and will certainly do it again, anytime the price is right for him.
