That poll has nothing to do with red/blue states. While the EC tabulates votes by state, please be aware that most inner cities, even in so-called red states, voted heavily for the Democrat. Most suburbs voted for the Republican. Nationwide, Bush carried 2,530 counties, while Kerry carried only 583 counties.

This county map is pretty interesting. It shows Kerry's support coming from inner cities, border counties and traditional liberal enclaves. Bush gets just about everything else.
