Well, one thing gives me hope. They said the 70's generation was full of stoners and hippies and they were good for nothing. Those folks didn't turn out so bad. But at least they were politically active and somewhat intelligent. Very little can overcome a lack of a education or sheer stupidity. Look at the radical Muslims in the Middle East? That ideology is largely espoused by clerics who are educated in only the Qu'ran. How can you be smart and effective and function in today's supercompetitive world if you are uneducated and narrow-minded?

That's right. The thing that's happening here is that the male population has turned into slackers and its the women who are achieving. I've cited this statistic before........in 1970, 60% of all those starting college were men; 40% women. Fast forward to 2000: 40% of all college entrants were men; 60% women. And a much higher percentage of women college grads are going on to grad school. Also down is the number of men graduating high school.
