LemurHouse...After several years of absence from SI, my similar experiences with DELL have brought me back to SI and also prompted me to sell my shares. I am maintaining 1k shares to stay a stockholder...I might want to say something at some point.

My teenage son received two new broken laptops, was sent refurbished parts, and told to repair them himself (he paid for a 24/7 3-year extended in home service warranty that he was told by "Betty", in the Philippines, would not be honoured). I doubt whether he will ever view DELL in a positive light again.

He is in a private college prep HS, in the computer club.
My illustration is that DELL has left a ripple effect of negative influence for him and many others who might
have been their future customers in business or privately.

Google search "DELL Complaints" yields information that
reinforce the premise that DELL service and quality has
created a ground swell of negative sentiment. This will
come home to roost in the future.

It appears once DELL has your money they are locked tighter than Fort Knox.
There is no way to reach someone empowered to resolve issues.

In the late 1990's Michael Dell wrote in his book that the
reason he started DELL was due to the frustration dealing with
computer companies. How ironic. The company has lost part
of its guiding principles.

Computers have become disposable. I assume in DELL's
view so have their customers.
