"... I think we should become very frugal on anything, but that doesn't mean to trash everything."

Did you hear me call to 'trash everything'?

No? Then why do you make an assumption like that? It's just reaching.

A balanced budget does NOT mean that essential services must be eliminated... no doubt however, scads of un-essential government programs, and wasteful government spending will need to be eliminated.

"...I don't like the idea of a constitutional amendment because they have screwed up the constitution too much as it is. A forceful executive branch can get the job done, and stop all of the waste, and theft."

If --- after 50+ years of consistently rising deficits and monetary inflation, and ever larger more powerful and intrusive government --- on the watch of Democrat AND Republican Presidents and Congresses, hasn't been enough to convince you that a serious structural reform is required to remedy the apparently serious, structural, and ongoing, problem... if you STILL BELIEVE, despite ALL EVIDENCE to the contrary, that some sort of kindly, smart Good King is going to magically come along, kiss America and make it ALL BETTER AGAIN, without the necessity of any kind of structural reform at all... then I'd have to give up hope of persuading you of anything... because it would be apparent that you prefer fantasy land to the real world.
