It all goes back to "truthiness". There are "true facts", which are true in and of themselves, and then there are "truthiness facts" which possess the quality of "truthiness" because you feel that it should have happened that way because they fit with your ideology or are more convenient.


When I listened to a small part of Bush's state of union last year, he's seems very sincere and believable. However, if you listen to the words carefully, they were not truths but rather "truthiness". They had the feel of truth and it seems they should have been true but they were not.
