this 'we're using too much oil' speech is made by EVERY president since LBJ once or twice during their tenure. it's completely empty blather that has no practical consequences whatsoever. oil imports simply keep rising relentlessly, no matter what the clown-in-chief mutters. US oil production has passed its Hubbert peak in 1970, and has been in steady decline since then. there is simply no choice - if the economy is to grow, more and more oil needs to be imported, and that's that.
the fact that political commentators are wasting even one line on the supposed 'importance' of these oil revelations is really too comical. this song-and-dance repeats from administration to administration with mind-numbing regularity.

almost all of WS is 'defending' the stock this morning, by raising target prices and issuing buy recommendations. must be a ton of short puts under water.
