Tim, when push comes to shove I don't really care whether you call public education "socialist" or simply public education. Your call. And it won't effect anything I do, one way or the other, as the saying goes.

Let me go back to basics, just for a moment, however. I consider it a "stretch" to put it mildly, to call government activities in a mixed economy such as ours "socialistic." In general the term "socialist" is a descriptive term for either a political party or as a macro level description of an economy.

If you wish to use it differently, I have no problem. I simply think it screws up one's thinking to do so.
