Just a thought. What would happen if we invaded by air and established a military base right on top of the facilities with a nasty defense perimeter. It saves the mess of street fighting. We don't want to overrun Iran anyway. It we establish a string of Dasiy Cutters around the perimeter, that will take out any attacking groups until heavy air support can arrive from Iraq. I am not a military planner so pardon if this suggestion is off the wall. What I have heard is that these facilities are way out in the desert. >>>I think this means a price spike for oil to over $ 100, maybe $120 or more. I expect oil stock prices, especially those with no Middle East exposure, to zoom.<<< One would think so. All I can do is repeat my 9/11 experience. Things oily screamed for about a day when the markets reopened, and then they were sucked down with the broad market selloff. What will happen this time??? I sure don't pretend to know. My guess (as I have posted before) is that things oily will bump upward. They may continue after that, I sure don't know. However this puppy will be buying protective puts big time after the first upward bump. They will cost less at the time, and you could probably sell further out of the money covered calls to pay for them. Just remember this. 9/11 itself was economically insignificant....a few dated buildings were lost and 5K precious lives (we sadly lose about 50K a year on the highways, mostly due to alcohol). OPEC quickly pledged to make up any crude shortfalls and Afghanistan, a non crude producer, was clearly the source of the problem. We had a market panic nevertheless. I held. I considered it the patriotic thing to do. We had a broad sell off when GWII started. I would put the odds of a broad selloff at greater than 70% if metal starts flying in and around Iran. Usually positions with large profits are sold first. What sector has the most profits??? I expect that things oily will be sold hard after an initial bump. It will be irrational, but I expect that that will happen.
