There are better choices for this country. And I think a lot of Americans understand we can do a lot better than we're doing today. This was from a December 9th, 2005 interview with Don Imus, a talk radio host. Apparently the recent interview with Katie Couric wasn't the first time Kerry used that false statistic. Actually, Kery is not that far off...........overall, a third of high school students drop out before graduating and nearly 1/2 of blacks and Latinos do........hence the 53% number Kerry was touting. Think about it......only 66% of high school students are graduating.....not as bad as 53% but still very bad. "But today it's a disaster," says Tom Vander Ark, director of education for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. "A third of American students drop out, half of Hispanic and African Americans drop out.
