Let us not forget -- once again -- that the MacIntels are out half a year ahead of pre-announced schedule.

I'm not buying it. Apple never said they would ship during summer '06, they said shipment would be *by* summer '06. As soon as the announcement had been made people were guesstimating the date was a sandbag to ameliorate a potential drop-off of PPC sales. And sure enough, within 2 months of Apple's switch announcement, Intel publicly stated they'd be ready in January.

Anyway, all this does shed some light on why there was no Photoshop bakeoff during the keynote, and why a Microsoft toadie was dragged on-stage instead of someone from Adobe...

...let me assure you they are not worried about Aperture eating Lightroom's lunch. At all.

I'd be surprised if they weren't ROTFL at Apple's missteps...
