George, The kick could be a combination of the muzzle jump, and what the sound does to the reaction of the shooter. That makes sense.

Recoil and flinch, two different things. That boolet is outta the gun in about 1/26,000 of a second. The flinch is when you yank the trigger. Ear protection does help. Wish I knew that 40 years ago so I wouldn't say WHAT? so often.
