When I google usenet, the first hit that comes up is an AUGUST 2005 article on Intel's updated plan to release Yonah in January.
Yes, Intel was coming out with a new chip, but it's a big jump to put one in the iMac.

From Intel, the first and only mention is June 05: intel.com

A rumor site had a fairly accurate article Nov 05: thinksecret.com
Still, it used phrases like "It is not known exactly what processors or price points the new models will debut at..." and "It is unknown whether Apple will go with a dual-core version of the processor, slated for release in January, or a single-core version, which Intel announced in August would be delivered shortly after the dual-core version".

Where are the Mac Servers and Set Top Boxes? Both potentially good products for Apple to make with Intel chips, and possibly on the drawing board, but as of now, just rumors, like the iPhone.
