I guess I wouldn't expect everyone dining at a greasy spoon to know about it, but anyone at a good restaurant I would think would have heard of this. I was aware that employees and employers had to report tips and that the employees were taxed on what was reported. According to that link, my education wasn't lacking, after all. Big sigh of relief. I was afraid I'd never be able to set foot in a good restaurant again. <g> Not that it matters given that I am a big tipper, having worked as a waitress and being very appreciative of the fact that that was a temporary stage of my life, so wait staff are at no risk from me.
