Republicans effectively gave a vote of no-confidence to Blunt, the acting majority leader and a close ally of DeLay.

This was the key. They wanted to get rid of all connection to Delay.

Blunt dumped his long term wife and is now married to a hot lobbyist babe. Just what the Republicans did not need.

I don't know squat about any of em.

But Blunt will remain in the House Republican leadership, holding onto his job as majority whip, the person responsible for making sure Republican-backed bills pass the House.

Blunt is extremely effective at getting bills passed through the house. I think that is one of the reasons he was passed over.
