I agree. In an increasingly competitive world, we can no longer affort to continue paying twice as much as everybody else for similar (or worse) services.

But that is true of many things. In many ways we have gotten fat and lazy, tolerating inefficiencies waste that we can no longer afford.

Yeah, I've been reading about this trend for some years now. One of the 'conservative' side arguments against nationalized healthcare is Canada and the wait for certain procedures, resulting in some people coming south to the US for care. They don't talk about the folks in the US that have to go to India or Thailand for a knee replacement because it's the only way they can afford it.
